Grodno-made products enjoy demand in Iran

An Iranian delegation met with heads of Belarus’ Grodno Region to discuss a wide range of issues related primarily to development of co-operation in the economic and other spheres, and also establishment of contacts between the Grodno Region and Iran’s Qazvin Region

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Belarus, Saeed Yari, proposed to develop twinning relations, “This will be the first official agreement between the regions of Iran and the Grodno Region. Mutually beneficial co-operation will contribute to increasing trade turnover between regions and countries.”

The Grodno Region authorities appreciated the proposal. Work over its implementation will continue.

In turn, the Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, Vladimir Karanik, noted that trade and economic relations between the countries are developing dynamically, “2020 set a record in this regard. The volume of trade turnover increased several times, even tenfold in some products. Pleasingly, in 2021, we have managed to maintain these positive dynamics – despite the pandemic restrictions. In Iran, the Grodno Region’s products of mechanical engineering, chemical and processing industries enjoy demand. However, the potential of our relations has not been fully used. Taking into account the current restrictions on the part of the European Union, as well as counter-sanctions, we now face an increasing number of opportunities to increase our trade turnover. We will create working groups for more detailed preparation of mutually beneficial projects and regulatory framework.”
