According to Mr. Oikonomou, the Greek government acts on the basis of international law and national interests. "The government is acting confidently. Our country is a strong state that strives for stability, but it does not make concessions in terms of its sovereign rights and national sovereignty. This is the country that should not be threatened and that does not allow itself to be intimidated," he stressed.

Earlier, Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar accused NATO ally Greece of escalating tensions and sabotaging Ankara's aspirations to solve the problems existing between the two countries within the framework of the North Atlantic Alliance.
