“In this regard, the forum is not only marketing in nature, but is of great practical importance.”

Roman Golovchenko noted that St. Petersburg is one of the key areas for the supply of food products for many Belarusian enterprises.

Last year, $500m of food products were delivered and St. Petersburg ranks third among Russian regions in terms of the supplied products.

“It is very important that our producers offer not just raw materials and products, but high-quality food that is oriented towards people leading a healthy lifestyle,” he said.

The Belarusian Head of Government stressed that our country is among the top-5 world suppliers of butter, with the Belarusian dairy industry accounting for 1 percent of world milk production and 6 percent of global trade in this product.

“In 2021, our country produced 137kg of meat per capita – up 37 percent compared to the domestic consumption level. Accordingly, there is something to export. The supply of a wide range of food products accounts for half of Belarusian exports to St. Petersburg. Moreover, last year, all export supplies totalled about $1bn; accordingly, food exports were close to $500m.
