In response to a question whether the Government has any concerns that inexpensive goods will be taken out of the country after border crossing restrictions are lifted, Mr. Golovchenko noted, “True, our food is cheaper than in the Russian Federation, including due to the fact that we are more intensively engaged in price regulation. We control the appetites of the trade sector and manufacturers so that not to pass [costs] on customers. Of course, there will be some overflows, but we have enough products to satisfy the needs of our country, our people, and those who want to buy our products."

The Prime Minister noted that Belarus produces 3.5 times more dairy products than it consumes, and 37-38 percent more meat than needed. "We enjoy a significant surplus in all positions, except for exclusive imports (rice, buckwheat, citrus fruits). Therefore, we will feed ourselves and Russians," Mr. Golovchenko stressed.
