"After the events of 2020 in Belarus, the Lithuanian authorities addressed Belarusian businesses – basically, representatives of the IT sector – to move to Lithuania to work. It was said that allegedly some particularly attractive conditions had been created for them for easy relocation. Perhaps some have moved to work, I do not exclude this since we are an open country. On the other hand, in 2021, the Belarusian IT sector was joined by more than 100 new companies: they registered with the Hi-Tech Park. Exports of IT services from Belarus increased by almost a third. Therefore, even if some companies left, some have come back – arriving from other countries," Mr. Golovchenko said.

As for the Lithuanian business in Belarus, the Prime Minister noted that it feels comfortable here. “There are 6,500 enterprises with foreign investments registered in Belarus, including 545 from Lithuania. They account for 8.4 percent of the total number, and this figure remains virtually unchanged for about a decade," Mr. Golovchenko said, adding, “As regards Lithuanian investments to Belarus, they made $195m from January-September 2021. The share of Lithuanian injections into our country (in the total volume of foreign investments) increased last year to make 2.9 percent – against 2.7 percent in 2020.”
