Golovchenko: Belarus expects food exports to reach $9bn by year end, with bar set even higher for 2025

Belarus expects food exports to reach $9bn by the end of the year, and the bar should be set even higher for 2025, Belarus’ Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said in an interview with the First News TV channel, BelTA reports

“Container transportations by the Belarusian Railway are developing at a very serious pace. Food products are transported by rail to more than 20 countries. The geography of our consumers is expanding. We have made an interesting step this year, putting milk on the stock exchange. We see that it has paid off. A large number of buyers registered on the exchange and became parties to the transaction, even from the most exotic countries,” Mr. Golovchenko emphasised.

Mr. Golovchenko drew attention to the development of co-operation with Oman. “The Head of State has recently visited Oman, before that we were there [meaning a government delegation]. One of the new areas of co-operation – the production and supply of baby food and the development of milk processing – has been confirmed. There are many such projects. We need to work on them actively and intensively,” the PM stressed.

“We expect a significant amount of foreign currency receipts from the export of our food products at the end of the year; the figure should reach $9bn. Despite all the difficulties, our processors and agrarians have worked quite successfully. The higher we set the bar this year, the higher we should set it next year,” the Head of Government noted.
