Golden harvest
As of August 26th, 41,100 hectares (99.2 percent of the area) of flax was harvested countrywide – as informed by the Agriculture and Food Ministry
23,200 hectares of flax straw were stripped (56.5 percent of the harvest).
The country already harvested 6,291.5 thousand tonnes of grain with a yield of 30.8 hundred kilograms per hectare. The Minsk Region retained the leading position, with 1,619 thousand tonnes of grain. The Brest Region also had good results: 1,175.2 thousand tonnes of grain were harvested there. The Grodno Region joined the top three areas (1,094.7 thousand tonnes) – followed by the Mogilev Region (880.8 thousand tonnes), the Gomel Region (780.4 thousand tonnes) and the Vitebsk Region (771.4 thousand tonnes).
Grain and leguminous crops (without corn, buckwheat and millet) were harvested on the territory of 2,043.2 thousand hectares – 96.4 percent of the planned area.
Buckwheat harvesting continued: 0.29 thousand hectares were harvested, or 0.94 percent of the total plan.
In addition, 863.9 thousand tonnes of hay were harvested in the Republic (77.3 percent of the planned figure), haylage harvesting was almost complete – 12,229.2 thousand tonnes (90.5 percent of the plan).
