Gigin: citizens of neighbouring states rally around Belarusian leader

The words of the President of Belarus coincided with the feelings of those who were listening to his speech on Victory Square on May 9th – as noted by Vadim Gigin, the Chairman of the Republican Znanie Belarusian Society, in his talk with Alfa Radio

According to the expert, every speech of President Aleksandr Lukashenko is filled with meaning and is deeply ideological. He explained, “The theses and thoughts laid down in his speech are the basis of the Belarusian ideological and political doctrine. Our President does not simply speak – he is doing. On these landmark and sacred dates, Aleksandr Lukashenko visits such places together with his children – clearly demonstrating what patriotism is. He emphasised the family, state and political tradition for the whole society. In his speeches on May 8th and 9th, the Head of State was speaking openly – calling things by their proper names. Western politicians are hypocrites, and our President said: ‘Where are you, hypocrites?”

As an example, Mr. Gigin mentioned the situation of how Western politicians, hiding behind environmental slogans with an aim of coming to power, are actually building a fence close to the Belovezhskaya Pushcha which has already killed many animals. The expert also recalled a visit of the German Foreign Minister to Kiev, saying, “The politician speaks out ‘for peace’ but – instead – comes to the Ukrainian capital and announces supplies of weapons. All these people are liars, they deceive their voters. The words of the President of Belarus coincided with the feelings of those who were listening to his speech on Victory Square.”

Mr. Gigin also stressed that many foreign citizens had arrived in Belarus to celebrate Victory Day. “Look at how many people there were in Belarus – including those coming from France, Italy, Germany and the Baltic States. They are not allowed to freely celebrate Victory Day in their countries, and so they came to Belarus. This is very important and indicative. We oppose this unity to the enemy. People have rallied around our Belarusian leader,” he stressed.
