Gigin: anti-Belarusian centres plan to cause harm

Foreign centres that are conducting subversive activities against Belarus continue to generate new ways to cause damage – so Belarusians should not be complacent, Vadim Gigin, the Chairman of the Republican Znanie Belarusian Society, believes

While commenting on Grigory Azarenok’s Fungus film in his talk with Alfa Radio, Mr. Gigin stressed, “I would primarily wish to congratulate Grigory Azarenok on this genuine investigative journalistic work done in co-operation with our law enforcement agencies. This film features the face of an allegedly peaceful protest, and it was in need for all. We should not be complacent. As I observe, some of our officials, politicians and journalists tend to become self-complacent. They think that the level of mobilisation needs to be lowered – but it should not. The enemy prevents us from doing this. As soon as we relax, we will get under blow. They are preparing for it, they are planning it. The centres conducting anti-Belarusian subversive work are not closed: they continue to operate and generate new ideas on how to do harm to our people, including with help of traitors, weak people and those who are greedy for money. This all is perfectly demonstrated in the film. As regards Russia and Belarus, they [western centres] have removed all stoplights and tagging – being ready to use anything, any measures of influence, including assassinations of political leaders, intimidation, and kidnappings. They will certainly use it. Therefore, we should not relax – but rather maintain a high level of mobilisation and consolidation of patriotic forces. It should be understood that citizens – who travel to these countries on business, for recreation or medical treatment, whatever – become objects of the western special services’ influence. We need to improve our own security system – as perfectly well confirmed by Grigory Azarenok’s film.”

Mr. Gigin added that the trend of security forces’ openness should be maintained, “We need to show people everything and to speak openly. When facts are not hidden and the initiative is in our hands, then trust between the authorities, law enforcement agencies and society is born."
