“Last night, I spoke with the German Interior Ministry, and we were asked to suspend special trains that go to Germany, because there is already a bottleneck situation there, Mr. Szefernaker said.

According to Poland’s Deputy Interior Minister, this indicates that the European Union has not got prepared for this situation.

“What does a bottleneck situation mean? In three days, 28,000 people left Warsaw, Krakow and Katowice by special trains, and 1.5m citizens of Ukraine remain in the country,” he added.

At the same time, Mr. Szefernaker hopes that other EU countries will show solidarity and continue to accept Ukrainian refugees.

Based on the latest information, more than 1.7m people have arrived in Poland from Ukraine since February 24th.
