German Vice Chancellor said actions of countries in favour of their interests destroy global world

In an interview with Deutschlandfunk Radio, Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, Vice Chancellor of Germany Robert Habeck noted that at present many countries act only to please their own interests, so the global world is in the process of disintegration

On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Habeck underlined that recently the global world is increasingly disintegrating into the individual interests of separate countries.

“Co-operation between countries is curtailing, and international organisations such as the UN and the WTO – which should be responsible for its development – no longer work, their activities have been undermined,” he said.

In his opinion, one cannot simply observe this process, since dialogue, the ability to listen, and not just read the text from a piece of paper, is necessary to change the situation.

Habeck also added that in connection with this trend in the world, the risk of new conflicts, including trade wars, is greatly increased, as some countries ‘choose isolation and violent confrontation’.

The German Vice Chancellor concluded that if all the states in the world begin to act in this way, the world community will no longer be able to regulate global problems.
