German social democrats urge to review relations with Russia
The Social Democratic Party of Germany from the government coalition, of which Chancellor Olaf Scholz is a member, has called for a review of the country's foreign policy, in particular, in relation to Moscow, RIA Novosti reports with reference to DPA
The Social Democratic Responses to Changing World document is to be discussed at the party presidium today, January 23rd.
"It is time to reconsider our own role in the world and take more responsibility for what we have as the foundation of prosperity, freedom and peace: the international order based on rules," the text reads.
The document also emphasises that Berlin has for a long time ‘relied on a co-operative future’ with Moscow.
In addition, the document indicates the need to revise relations with China in order to reduce economic dependence.
