German Patriot air defence systems to start operating in Poland in early 2023
Deployment of Patriot air defence systems in Poland is a matter of two to three months – as stated by Poland’s Deputy Minister of National Defence, Wojciech Skurkiewicz, RIA Novosti reports
Earlier against the background of an incident with the fall of a rocket in Poland on the border with Ukraine, Germany’s Federal Minister of Defence, Christine Lambrecht, announced an agreement with the Polish side on patrolling Polish airspace by German Eurofighter aircraft and deployment of Patriot air defence systems in the country.
With this in view, Mr. Skurkiewicz was asked by journalists on when Patriot systems would start working in Poland, and he replied, “At the beginning of 2023."
“This is a matter of two to three months at most. Now is the time for intensive co-ordination, selection of specific locations and connection to our system," the Deputy Minister of National Defence noted, adding that consultations of the Polish and German military had already taken place in Poland. According to Mr. Skurkiewicz, integration of German Patriots into the Polish defence system is now the most important task for Warsaw.
