According to him, Germans will be able to survive 15 degrees above Celsius if they put their sweaters on.

“We should block Putin's money valve. This means we should also turn our gas and oil taps off – so that the freedom in Europe gets a chance. 15 degrees! It is possible to survive 15 degrees in winter if sweaters are put on. Nobody will die as a result of this!” Mr. Hauk declared.

Earlier, Germany’s Agriculture Minister Cem Özdemir called on Germans to stop eating meat – ‘to spite Putin’; the country’s citizens criticised him for these words later.
