"These countries are not sovereignly governed, and they have no sovereign authorities. They are acting on orders in the same way that the radical opposition is operating in Georgia. However, taking into account our long-term friendship with the Estonian people, we will remain in the regime of unilateral friendship with this country," Mr. Kobakhidze told Georgian journalists.

The PM recalled that Lithuania and Estonia imposed sanctions against Georgia in December 2024, allegedly amid growing concerns about violations of democracy and human rights in the country.

Earlier, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, speaking in the Estonian Parliament, called Georgia's ruling Georgian Dream — Democratic Georgia party ‘a de facto government that has no legitimacy’. He considers holding new parliamentary elections to be the only way out of the situation. As noted by the Foreign Minister, Estonia is ready to tighten sanctions, including abolishing the visa-free regime, if the Georgian authorities do not change the course.
