Gazprom: gas supplies to Moldova to stop in case of non-payment
Russian Gazprom said if Moldova does not pay for gas, its supplies to this country will be stopped, RIA Novosti reports
The company explained that Gazprom reserves the right to completely stop gas supplies to Moldova in the event that the country does not pay for it on time – by October 20th. Moreover, Gazprom has the right to terminate the contract in connection with the violation of the terms of the agreement on the settlement of the historical debt of Moldovagaz.
The Russian company stressed that, in the future, Moldova's requests for changes in the terms of gas supplies can only be formalised as additions to the contract. Throughout this year, Moldovagaz has regularly violated the terms of the contract, which relate to the terms of payment for gas supplied to the country. The Moldovan side has repeatedly asked Gazprom to soften its obligations under the contract.
