Gaidukevich: the EU is in crisis

Oleg Gaidukevich, a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, told Alfa Radio that the European Union is in crisis, so it’s funny to hear that it wants to influence something in Belarus

“They [the EU member states] cannot deal with their own problems, they are not ready to confront either Russia or our country. The European Union does not have the strength to do this. The migration crisis that began many years ago has not been settled and will not be resolved in the coming years, even decades. Moreover, internal contradictions will only grow in the European Union,” said Oleg Gaidukevich.

The deputy also noted that the European Union will not be able to expand to the East even with all the will.

“They have not been able to ‘digest’ those countries that have been included [in the EU] in the last ten years, resulting in these contradictions. The discontent of Europeans with Brussels’ policies is constantly growing. Do you think everyone supports the policy that Belgium is pursuing regarding family values? No. Do all Europeans support the policies that are pursued in the economy? No. After all, the European Union has ruined the economies of such countries as Ukraine. What did they give this country? Nothing,” said the deputy.

As far as other Eastern European countries are concerned, according to Mr. Gaidukevich, they also received nothing but deception and false expectations. In this regard, all the dissatisfaction of the EU citizens spills out during the elections.

“However, there are no democratic elections in the European Union either. They do not allow to win those political forces that declare that they want to radically change the policy of Brussels,” noted Mr. Gaidukevich, adding that in the EU countries they are doing everything to prevent people – who want to destroy the system of European values – to come to power.
