"There are many countries in the Mediterranean region that depend on importing wheat from Russia and Ukraine," France’s Agriculture and Food Minister Julian Denormandy said, adding that the current events may lead to higher prices, which will also have an impact on livestock feed.

According to the publication, Qatar, Rwanda, Kyrgyzstan and Egypt depend 80 percent on wheat supplies from the Russian Federation, while Turkey’s dependence makes 70 percent. In this regard, Mr. Denormandy called for steps to be taken to avoid a food crisis in the next year and a half.
