Former Ukrainian PM said the country is fully maintained by West
Ukraine physically cannot survive without the financial support of Western states – as noted by the former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Kiev ‘doesn’t have a cent’ and urged allies to provide $17bn of financial aid. In turn, Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal clarified that this sum does not include the large-scale damage caused recently to the country’s energy infrastructure.
“The current leadership [of Ukraine] has adopted the principle of complete dependency. There was a conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine organised by [German Chancellor Olaf] Scholz and [European Commission President] Ursula von der Leyen. Zelenskyy began his speech by saying that the country did not receive a cent for restoration. This was stated by a person who was allocated more than $40bn of all types of loans, grants, and assistance,” Mykola Azarov drew attention.
According to the Ukrainian former PM, this amount is approximately equal to the size of the country’s annual budget.
“Shmyhal said during the conference that the country needs money to pay salaries. This is complete absurdity! These Western figures are sitting, listening, and there is no bewilderment,” Azarov said.
