For the Sake of Life on Earth exhibition dedicated to 80th anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War on show in Brest
The exhibition For the Sake of Life on Earth from the State Museum St. Isaac's Cathedral has opened in Brest, sb.by reports with reference to the Brest Regional Museum of Local Lore
The exhibition housed by Brest Regional Museum of Local Lore is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and features the works created by the artists who witnessed the siege, defence and liberation of Leningrad in the post-war years.
Two key topics are in focus. The first one concerns the siege of Leningrad. The artists reflected in their works the tragedy of the city, the courage of its residents and the heroic deeds of Soviet soldiers. The masters created their masterpieces in the difficult conditions in which the whole of Leningrad existed. The exhibition presents propaganda posters, lithographs, linocuts, and watercolours.
The second block is devoted to peaceful life in the post-war years, and graphic sheets are, in particular, presented. Many of them feature the St. Isaac's Cathedral, which defended the city as well: there were air defence posts on its roof, and the walls became a haven for art and historical treasures from many museums.
Visitors to the show – open until May 19th – can also see landscapes and other works. All of them convey the atmosphere of a leisurely peaceful life in the city.
