FM condemned refusal for Belarusian diplomats’ participation in honouring the memory of the dead prisoners of German concentration camps

Belarus’ Foreign Ministry categorically condemned the refusal of the leadership of the German Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorials Foundation to allow Belarusian diplomats to participate in commemorative events on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of these concentration camps, sb.by reports with reference to the Foreign Ministry

"This decision is, in fact, a continuation of the policy of dividing people by nationality," Belarus’ Foreign Ministry emphasised in its statement. “There can be no justification for such cynical actions of the German foundation in relation to the country where every third person died during the war, where there is not a single family that would not have been affected by that war. Unfortunately, such actions of the foundation essentially correspond to the policy pursued in the West by certain political forces to change history and justify German Nazism.”

The actions of the foundation are extremely painfully perceived by the Belarusian society, especially in the year of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

"We do not need invitations or permits to honour the memory of millions of innocent prisoners of German concentration camps. We did that before, and we will always do this,” the Foreign Ministry outlined its position on the issue.
