Finland closes border to Russian tourists

The Cabinet of Ministers of Finland approved the closure of the border for Russian tourists from midnight on September 30th – as stated by Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto, TASS reports

He clarified that the decision does not affect those Russian citizens who will enter Finland for humanitarian reasons.

Exceptions will be made for Russians arriving in the country, for example, for family reasons, study, work or medical treatment.

The Foreign Minister of Finland said that the decision to ban entry for Russians was made in view of the ‘threat to Finland’s international relations’.
