Fico said Slovakia would benefit from neutrality
At a time when countries are pointlessly increasing their arsenals, neutrality would benefit Slovakia very much — as noted by Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico, TASS reports
“Wouldn’t Slovakia’s neutrality be good in this crazy period? I put this question very officially, very clearly. What are we all dragged into? What kind of war are you talking about? Who on earth wants to fight with whom? As far as I’m concerned, I’ll tell you that in these senseless times of armament, when arms companies are rubbing their hands together, neutrality would benefit Slovakia very much. But unfortunately, this decision is not in my hands,” Fico said.
Slovakia has been a member of NATO since 2004. Ahead of the upcoming North Atlantic Alliance summit in The Hague, President Peter Pellegrini discusses the issue of a possible increase in state defence spending with the leaders of the republic’s parliamentary parties.
