Exports of Belarus’ travel services reached almost $178m in 2022

In 2022, exports of travel services in Belarus amounted to $177.8m – as informed by Irina Voronovich, the Director of the Tourism Department at the Ministry of Sports and Tourism

Speaking of inbound tourism, Ms. Voronovich noted, “It got new features last year due to constantly changing external conditions. For example, the concept and principle of visa-free entry for our Western neighbours was transformed. Against that background, shopping tours became popular, and Russians also demonstrated interest in them. Actually, guests from Russia visited Belarus most often: according to the State Border Committee, more than 458,000 of them came to our country (including those travelling by train, bus or plane). It is still problematic to calculate those travelling by their personal transport, although we are constantly working out the methods together with the Statistical Agency.”

Ms. Voronovich also voiced the volume of exports of tourist services, “In 2022, this figure made $177.8m, and Russian tourists made the greatest contribution: according to operational data, it stood at $143.9m (which was almost twice as much as in 2021). They were followed by the citizens of Turkiye ($3.6m), Latvia ($2.5m), China ($2.4m), and the United Arab Emirates ($1.8m).”
