Obviously, the map of Europe will be changed – as noted by Vadim Gigin, the Chairman of the Board of the Republican Znanie Belarusian Society

The expert shared his opinion on whether the borders of Europe will change after a certain period, and what the map will look like when all conflicts are resolved.

“I cannot say exactly what the map of Europe will look like, but it is obvious that it will change. It is already changing. Referendums were held in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Lugansk People’s Republic, two regions of Zaporozhye and Kherson. Evidently, the borders will change. We see the simmering conflicts in the Balkans, and the Hungarian leadership’s statements that this is a divided nation are now voiced more often. I do not know, fortunately or unfortunately, but these borders will be redrawn. Actually, this Pandora's box was opened by the USSR collapse when the West and Yugoslavia decided to step aside their guarantees under the Helsinki Final Act of 1975 and the inviolability of post-war borders. It should not be surprising that, after the destruction of those borders, the process was continued,” Mr. Gigin said.
