Expert on wisdom of Lukashenko's policy: he is people's President

The national ethos is apparent in words of President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, and it is based on an understanding of the feeling of belonging to the people and of the depth of thoughts that come from awareness of the people's interests – as noted by the Director General of the National Library and a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, Vadim Gigin, in his talk with Alfa Radio

People's President

“There is such a notion as ‘national ethos’, and it is actually rooted in understanding of the feeling of belonging to the people and of the depth of thoughts that come from awareness of the people's interests. The Head of State’s words transmit this national ethos,” the expert emphasised. “When we wish each other something, we talk about health, love, happiness and a clear peaceful sky. This is a long-standing wish that coincides with the people’s feelings. Why is Aleksandr Lukashenko really the national people's leader? Of course, this is due to the official status, the Constitution, the powers, but also to the character and outlook. The people’s leader is a statesman who understands the demands and aspirations of his people, who talks to them, who is personally a part of this nation and who explains the guidelines of his actions to citizens. At a solemn event [held on July 1st], the President told Belarusians in detail about the logic of his major political actions in recent times, whether it was domestic political decisions or foreign policy negotiations. He voiced that to show that his decisions are based on a serious analysis.”

Difference between Belarusian and Western politics

“The Head of State revealed some details, but he also said he could not speak openly of some of them because it’s politics – the real one, rather than a PR observed in the Kiev regime or in the West. In politics, something needs not to be revealed immediately, there should be no hurry. There are concessions and compromises that may be perceived differently by society. There are forces that do not want to reach some agreements, so they can start manipulating public opinion. The President speaks about it directly, he does not shy away. He is not like Western politicians who lie. Aleksandr Lukashenko is a completely different statesman, because he speaks frankly to his nation, and this inspires people's trust," Mr. Gigin stated. “Not only the 2,700 audience present in the Palace of the Republic listened to his words with bated breath on July 1st: the whole of Belarus listened to him, as did other countries as well. Even those in the West listened to him, because they know that Aleksandr Lukashenko is a man who is responsible for his every word, a wise political leader who understands the essence of the ongoing processes. Visitors from overseas come to him to consult, since the Belarusian leader has enormous political experience. He understands the logic and essence of what is happening not only in our region, but in the world as a whole.”
