Expert on BRICS and SCO: powerful Eurasian corporation being created through these integration associations

President Aleksandr Lukashenko recently reviewed and approved the strategy of Belarus' participation in the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation and the strategy of actions within BRICS proposed by the Government and the Foreign Ministry. In his talk with the ONT TV channel, Aleksei Avdonin, an expert at the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies, explained whether this can be called a foreign policy course of official Minsk for the coming five years.

Mr. Avdonin noted that this could definitely be called a foreign policy course of official Minsk for the coming five years, since BRICS and SCO are integration associations that do not allow the Western world to establish a total colonial empire, “We know perfectly well that Washington and London, after the collapse of the USSR and the conditional victory in the Cold War, began to return the whole world to a new colonial, global order, where they would be a metropolis, and everyone else would work for them as colonies. Of course, the whole world said there would be no return to the 18th-19th century practice. Moreover, it is necessary to unite in order for the West to stop its policy. The Belarusian leader clearly understands that the republic is medium-sized, it cannot stand alone against the United States and the European Union in the economy and politics.”

According to the expert, BRICS and SCO primarily provide an opportunity to create common markets. “This means the economy is the basis for a powerful financial one, which provides an opportunity for the technological development, the involvement of greater human resources in the production process, and the generation of maximum added value. In other words, we are actually creating our own powerful Eurasian corporation through such integration associations. They have an Anglo-Saxon one, and we have ours. Everyone understands perfectly well that the modern world is still a world of goods, services, and money. The President of Belarus is not under any illusions, like many politicians in Europe. He clearly knows the basics of the economy and politics, he understands that it is necessary to create this powerful economy, including within the framework of an integration association. We will then be able to protect our political, military, and geopolitical interests so that no one enters our territory. Therefore, of course, BRICS and SCO are the main directions of our foreign, economic and financial policy.”
