Expert on Belarus’ defence: our country ready for any development of events
We are on the way to a new system of international relations. Belarus has a clear action plan and is fully prepared for all possible scenarios of developments – as noted by Colonel Andrei Bogodel, Deputy Head of the Department for Educational and Scientific Work – Head of the Educational and Methodology Department of the Faculty of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Military Academy of Belarus, in his talk with the SB TV YouTube channel.
The expert says that in the future we will have to fight for peace, “We must prepare ourselves for the fact that in the future there will be a rather complicated development of all political events on the globe in general. I think we are moving towards a new system of international relations, since the old one is no longer fulfilling its functions. And on the way to this common system of international relations, I think we will face a lot of upheavals. In this case, what should be clearly known and understood first of all? No small or medium-sized state will survive in a serious confrontation with some large states, centres of power. In this case, our Union State is a unique entity that must be protected.”
According to Mr. Bogodel, at a time of such global change in the world, the country must be governed by strong military and political leadership.
“And the most important thing is that experienced statesmen, first of all heads of state, should be in power. In this case, we, the Republic of Belarus, are very lucky. That is why we need to have a clear plan for the next five years. And we have such a plan: a five-year plan for the construction and development of the armed forces, a defence plan of our state, which takes all these aspects into account. So, in principle, our state is ready for any development. But I hope that reasonable people will prevail.”
