Expert explains purpose of joint training centres of Belarusian and Russian military

The situation along the country’s perimeter is heating up, and the Belarusian military, leadership and officers should understand how they need to behave in the conditions of modern hostilities. In his talk with Alfa Radio, political expert Aleksei Belyayev commented on what the Belarusian army can learn from the Russian one, and what lessons could be drawn from Russia's special military operation in Ukraine.

The creation of joint training centres is a response to external challenges and threats. “The Belarusian and Russian armies are marching in a single bundle today. Russia has real combat experience: participation in military operations in Syria and in the special military operation in Ukraine. The situation around our country is heating up. The military, leadership and officers of Belarus should understand how they need to behave in the conditions of modern hostilities, what they can do, and so on,” Mr. Belyayev explained.

According to the expert, the special military operation in Ukraine has revealed many pain points of the modern army – both from the Russian and Ukrainian sides. “It has become clear that the issues of interaction, logistics, ammunition compatibility and others are important. We see now how electronic warfare is gaining special significance. There are a lot of issues on which the Russian military can share very valuable experience,” he said.
