Expert explained why ultimatums don’t work against Russia
Talking to SB TV, Doctor of Military Sciences, Prof. Nikolai Buzin, the Chairman of the Standing Commission on Human Rights, National Relations and Mass Media of the House of Representatives, explained what the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine will lead to.

“Russian soldiers will determine the victor. Everything that Europe wants never benefits Russia. Their ultimatums and statements are empty. After all, they don’t offer Russia anything that makes sense. Once again, they are talking about rearming Ukraine, upgrading its army and achieving new conditions to continue the war. Notice: no one is talking peace, only 30-day ceasefire. What do they need it for? Ukraine is now retreating. It has logistical problems. That’s why they so desperately need this ceasefire, not the end of the war,” the expert noted. “But it is totally inappropriate, when the same people say that Russia must be defeated and say that they need a ceasefire that Russia has to agree to at the same time. These are controversial statements. Pick a side, then it will be clear what you're proposing and maybe people will believe you. But you have to provide an alternative.”
“Instead, they say that if Russia doesn’t agree they will impose another round of sanctions. So? How many of these have there been? The world has already adapted to your sanctions and no one is interested in Europe anymore. Its economy is falling apart and can’t support the old living standards. There already are alternative routes — The International North–South Transport Corridor is being built. The world is moving on without you. How did the May 9th ceasefire end? Around 500 drones were launched at night. Every media platform stated this fact, yet no one acknowledges that Ukraine violates everything. Apparently, it can do anything, it is supposedly a victim. You are granted the opportunity to save your forces and resources. But no, all around they make bravura statements: ‘We will win’, ‘We won’t give up a metre of our land’. Why then does Russia have to listen to anyone? As a military person myself, I would tackle this issue in a completely different way. There’s no one worth talking to,” Nikolai Buzin stated.
“It is necessary to end this conflict as favourably as possible. There’s no use in listening to Germany, neither to Great Britain nor to France. Today, the national interests must be put at the top. Russia has no reason to agree to the loss, as has been mentioned. The result is again additional sanctions and increased pressure. People, find other ways to talk to Russia. But no, you cannot talk to Russia on equal terms. As noted by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, you cannot make ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ statements to Moscow. After all, if you haven’t already realised this, you need a history lesson. But they haven’t just forgotten this history — they tossed it out completely, like an old textbook. They have the great names: Napoleon, Hitler, Frederick II the Great and a number of other people, supposedly once mighty, so now they desire things that are over the top. But time has changed, so have the people’s consciousness and the page of history. These are the conditions in which they have to adapt to the reality,” the Doctor of Military Sciences emphasised.
