Expert: confrontation with Russia is contrary to Western Europe’s national interests

The European Union must become independent from the United States of America in order to begin to coexist peacefully with Russia, because confrontation with the Russian Federation is contrary to its national interests – as stated by Vadim Gigin, the Chairman of the Board of the Republican Znanie Belarusian Society, during his talk with Alfa Radio

The expert noted that some EU countries do not have any contradictions with Russia, so their economic war with the Russian Federation is completely unreasonable.

“Economic policy, sanctions strategy, and confrontation with Russia are contrary to the national interests of Western Europe. Take, e.g., Germany and France, the locomotives of the European Union. What economic and political contradictions do France and Russia have? None. Maybe there is some competition in Africa. Russia is strengthening its positions there, including in the Central African Republic, which was a traditional object of French influence,” said Vadim Gigin.

Meanwhile, according to the expert, the strengthening of Russia’s positions in Africa does not play any role in Moscow’s relations with Paris.

“We are not talking about Germany at all. We remember the statements of the German president, leading politicians and businessmen that cheap Russian gas is one of the foundations of the German economic miracle. German business is vitally interested in co-operation with the Russian Federation, and not only in terms of the supply of energy resources. These are sales markets and investment projects. Exactly the same refers to France. The axis Paris – Berlin – Moscow could be no weaker than, e.g., the axis Moscow – Beijing – Delhi,” the expert believes.

“These countries are forced, for far-fetched reasons, to wage an economic war against Russia and Belarus. Gradually they are being drawn into the same confrontation with China,” the expert summed up.
