Expert commented on conflict between Germany, Poland
Germany has abandoned its open door policy, introducing temporary controls on all land borders due to the growing discontent with migration policy among the country’s citizens. The decision angered some neighbouring countries, especially Poles: from now on, illegal migrants will simply not be allowed into Germany when crossing the border with Poland. Accordingly, the lands of Poland and the Baltic States are at a risk of being transformed into a buffer zone for refugees and migrants to concentrate. An expert at the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies, Aleksei Avdonin, speculated on the issue in his talk with Alfa Radio.
“A year ago, Poles were actively asking for money for the construction of a fence on the border with Belarus. Belarusian experts then predicted that a similar barrier would be soon built between Germany and Poland. This is what is happening. Germans are well aware that Poland and the Baltic States are a buffer zone, and they believe that refugees and migrants should be concentrated in these territories," Mr. Avdonin explained.
According to the expert, illegal migrants will soon be detained across Germany. “They will be sent to Poland, and that is why Poles are so nervous: they understand what steps Germany will begin to take. At present, the German leadership is extremely rigidly restoring its national identity. They have realised that refugees and migrants are bringing nothing good to the culture and identity of Germans,” he stressed.
