Expert: Belarus demonstrates US that negotiations should not be perceived as weakness, it has no fear
At a recent meeting on finalising the programme of socio-economic development of Belarus for 2026-2030, President Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that the republic, thanks to its good relations with Russia, currently possesses tactical nuclear weapons, and the Oreshnik complex will be put on combat duty in December. In his talk with the SB TV YouTube channel and Alfa Radio, political expert Aleksei Belyaev, the Dean of the Journalism Department at the Belarusian State University, explained who and why the Head of State warned.
“Aleksandr Lukashenko warned our beloved American partners and the entire European company. It is clear that statements about the state's possession of such serious types of weapons are made for an internal audience. In other words, we once again remind our citizens that we have something to protect ourselves so that they feel a reliable support,” the expert noted. “On the other hand, we see how some secret behind-the-scenes games related to the Ukrainian conflict and the fact that Belarus is an ally of Russia have intensified recently. They are trying to turn us away from this union. They failed to do that through a coup in 2020, and then they were trying to scare our country with sanctions and isolation – but that produced no result as well. So they have switched from carrot to stick now.”
Mr. Belyaev continued, “Emissaries from the United States have begun visiting us frequently, and some kind of conversation is organised. Aleksandr Lukashenko receives them, listens attentively, and smiles – as diplomats should. We are polite people who are not at war with them (well, we did not actually declare a war, it’s they who are trying to declare it). At the same time, we need to understand what's behind it. On the one hand, Americans come with flattering speeches and persuasions, making small concessions – i.e. the lifting of sanctions against Belavia. But that's it. At the moment, they are wishing to bargain something from Belarus in exchange for these concessions. Please note how John Coale, the newly appointed Special Envoy of the President of the United States to Belarus, said during his meeting with the Lithuanian authorities that their task is to separate Belarus from Russia. They are using the Baltic States and the border issue to exert pressure. On the one hand, they are opening up opportunities for contacts, and on the other hand, they are trying to limit economic interaction with the European Union and the transit opportunities of our country. In addition, someone is even trying to threaten us.…”
“Poles are militarising their country at a rapid pace, and we must respond to this,” the expert added. “It is clear that Poland is backed by the United States, which is sponsoring this militaristic orgy and also deploying its military base on Polish territory. Please note: there has been a forty-day shutdown in America, and the government partially did not work because the state budget had not been approved. In particular, the army, which is a government structure, did not work, and its servicemen did not receive any allowances for forty days. Lithuania and Poland undertook to pay for the expenses, food supplies, and maintenance of these American bases in their countries, and it’s a vivid indicator of complete dependence. Some European countries, which are stronger, richer and more independent, addressed Washington saying that, since those were its bases, the US should think about how to feed its soldiers. In turn, the obviously dependent satellites went to kowtow.”
Mr. Belyaev noted, “All this is happening around us, and we see who really leads these countries. It is necessary to show these masters that we are having a dialogue with them, but this should not be perceived as weakness, we are not afraid, we have something to respond to. We have our own upgraded tactical nuclear weapons brought from Russia, and the Oreshnik complex will be in service (but you won't know where, because we understand who we're dealing with, so we'll keep our deployment secret). You just should know that we have it – and be on your guard. Let it sober you up. These are our reasonable approaches. As the President said, we must have our own weapons. We have our own military industry, which is also developing, but it is not customary to speak much about it – as in all countries. This is the secret part. That's why we have reminded you once again that we have the Oreshnik complex and tactical nuclear weapons.”
