Expert: AI development and implementation in armed forces can only be afforded by very rich countries
The collective West, represented by the United States and the European Union, has already allocated $81bn to produce a new generation of semiconductors, thereby exacerbating the global confrontation with China for ‘chip’ superiority. This is just the first swallow of the $380bn allocated by governments around the world to companies such as Intel Corp. and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM), to increase the production of more powerful microprocessors – as noted by military analyst Igor Chibisov.
“The development and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in the armed forces can only be afforded by very rich countries. I’m personally reassured that our ally Russia, as well as China, are dealing with the same issues in parallel with the US. The development of AI for various purposes seems to be good, bringing progress to mankind and benefits to civilisation,” the expert said.
Great importance is attached to the development of AI systems in the Belarus-Russia Union State — within the framework of a joint import substitution programme and the development of the microelectronics industry. The new Russian government is also working today to update the list of strategic priorities and national projects of the Russian Federation, since a complete refusal to participate in a new stage of economic and technological progress will look symptomatic.
