Exhibition of old textbooks opened at BSU

A thematic exposition, entitled Educational Literature in Historical Retrospective has opened at the Belarusian State University (BSU) – as reported by the university’s press service

The exhibition displays about 40 books from the fund of rare and valuable editions.

“The exhibits include domestic and foreign textbooks, as well as learning guides from the middle of the 19th century until 1950,” noted the BSU’s press service. “These are Lectures on Organic Chemistry (1880), the Course of Elementary General Chemistry (1863), the Collection of Tasks on Higher Mathematics (1911), the Course of Elementary Geometry (1923), and Fundamentals of Comparative Anatomy of Invertebrates (1944), etc.”

In total, the university collection of educational literature boasts over 2,000 publications. The oldest textbook, Arithmetic by Magnitsky, is over three hundred years old and was published in 1703.

The university invites visitors to attend the exhibition on weekdays from 9am to 5pm at the address: 4 Nezavisimosti Avenue, office 313. The exposition will run until June 30th. Admission is free.
