Estonia to host exercises with NATO military participation

Mass exercises Siil 2022 (Hedgehog 2022), with the participation of almost 15,000 Estonian military personnel, as well as allies from NATO countries and partners, begin on May 16th in Estonia – as reported by RIA Novosti

According to the headquarters of the Estonian Defence Forces, ten NATO countries will take part in the exercises.

It is noted that the purpose of the event is to test combat readiness and assess international co-operation in response to various threats. The exercises will be held mainly in the south-east of the country and at the Central training ground of the Defence Forces.

The headquarters also said that the event will involve the 1st and 2nd infantry brigades, units of the cyber command, special operations commands, logistics services, members of the unified paramilitary armed forces of the Estonian Defence League (Kaitseliit), as well as the Air Force, Navy and allied units and alliance partners.
