According to the Estonian Defence Investment Centre (RKIK), German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius took part in the signing ceremony of the agreement.

Earlier, Pevkur and Murniece signed a document in Germany on the intention of Estonia and Latvia to join the European air defence system European Sky Shield (ESSI).

According to Pevkur, events in Ukraine have shown that air defence is critical to protecting the population, military forces and critical infrastructure from air attacks.
