“The attitude of some Western allies towards Russia has only added fuel to the fire. This has done Ukraine more harm than good,” the Turkish leader said, adding that unlike other NATO members, Turkiye is ‘engaged in dialogue with both sides of the conflict, trying to bring peace closer’.

Earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan held talks in Astana on the sidelines of the SCO summit which lasted about an hour. The two presidents discussed issues of economic co-operation, liaisons in the energy sector and tourism. As indicated by the presidency of the Republic of Turkiye, Erdogan told Putin that Ankara is ready to contribute and can lay the foundation for a ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine.
