After the cabinet meeting, the Turkish leader said called the actions in Sweden ‘dirty’, saying that they ‘are considered an insult to both Muslims and all people in general, all rights and freedoms’. He accused Stockholm of allegedly continuing to ‘support terrorists’ but continuing to wait for the support of the application to join NATO.

At the same time, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he expects Stockholm to fully fulfil its obligations to Ankara to combat terrorist organisations.

Earlier, Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar said that Sweden and Finland were rejecting requests to combat terrorism. Moreover, he called unacceptable the inaction of Stockholm in relation to attacks on the Koran and on the Turkish leader.
