The Turkish President explained that such an agreement was reached during the negotiations with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, “We have agreed on the free shipment of grain to countries in need. We agree with Putin that Africa should benefit from the Black Sea grain corridor. We will ensure that bulk grain ships reach countries that are currently suffering from a severe food crisis and famine.”

Recep Tayyip Erdogan added that he had already discussed this initiative with the UN Secretary General António Guterres. Moreover, Erdogan announced his intention to raise the issue of food supply to African states during the upcoming G20 summit in Bali.

Erdogan said that the attempts of Western countries to teach the lessons of humanity, ignoring the suffering of people in Africa, is a shame.

“The suffering of millions of people is being ignored. The pain of every innocent person dying in Africa, especially in Somalia, without access to a loaf of bread, breaks our hearts. Unfortunately, no efforts are being made to put an end to these tragedies that lead millions of people to death. It is a shame that Western countries, which give lessons of humanity to the rest of the world, remain indifferent to this tragedy,” the Turkish leader explained.
