Energy related programmes for Union State

Belarus’ Energy Minister, Viktor Karankevich, comments to Belarus 1 TV channel on the Union State programmes which have already been adopted

“These are three Union State programmes – in particular related to electric power engineering. Work is underway to prepare an interstate project: an agreement on formation of a unified energy market. Specialised organisations liaise to co-ordinate modes of energy system interaction. In addition, conditions for interaction between consumers and electricity producers are being determined. As regards gas, we have yet to formalise with our Russian colleagues the principles of formation and functioning of a unified natural gas market and further work on bringing our enterprises closer together. In the sphere of nuclear energy, we focus on further co-operation within the framework of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, interaction in the field of radioactive waste and nuclear materials management, as well as nuclear and radiation safety," the Energy Minister explained.
