Eismont on Time of Our Victories show: it’s entirely President’s idea
The organisation of such a large-scale show as Time of Our Victories is entirely the idea and instruction of the President, the Head of State’s Press Secretary Natalya Eismont told reporters before the Time of Our Victories sports and entertainment show, held today at Minsk Arena, BelTA reports
“We have already had such a practice. We used to do gala shows for sports disciplines and, in principle, we left this practice for quite a long time. We have not held such events recently. One of the inspirers of this show in Belarus was the Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva, who brought her show to us in March this year, which, according to numerous reviews, was very much appreciated by the audience,” Ms. Eismont noted.
The President’s spokesperson said the story prompted the idea that the practice of such shows should be revived.
“Why don’t we bring together the best and most beautiful of sports that we have? We see that we have lots of large-scale events in the country. This is a gift to Belarusians, to our people. After all, we need to be able to relax, not only to work. It was entirely the President’s idea. It was the President’s idea and instruction, so to speak. And the question that was put to all of us was: why don’t our athletes also show our country, our people, our youth, first of all, what they are capable of,” she stressed.
“A mass and entertaining format was chosen for this. We have someone to show, something to show and something to be proud of. Summarising all this, I would like to say that this is the first such project for our young people. And it’s a gift from our President. We’ll see how everything will work out. And, as we have already said, we hope and believe that if everything works out, the show will have a continuation,” Ms. Eismont added.
The President’s Press Secretary stressed that the Head of State himself was aware of the preparations for this event.
“While initially this show was conceived more with a focus on rhythmic gymnastics, one of the main adjustments made by the Head of State was that this show should represent the maximum number of spectacular sports. We have a lot of different bright athletes. And today it will be possible to see some unexpected sports for the viewer, which we did not announce and did not declare. They arose after the President’s remark that rhythmic gymnastics is wonderful, and we have many great female athletes who will take the stage today. But there are other sports. Let’s think and work more broadly,” Ms. Eismont summed up.
