Eismont: foreigners attending exhibition of gifts to Belarus’ President admit they have nothing of the kind in their countries
An exhibition of gifts presented to the President of Belarus by labour teams – With Love and Gratitude – has begun its work at the National Library today as part of the Marathon of Unity nationwide social and cultural campaign. At the opening ceremony, Natalya Eismont, the Press Secretary of the Head of State, noted that the Marathon of Unity had moved to Minsk truly brightly: among the variety of events – such as exhibitions, meetings, flash mobs and concerts — the exposition of gifts presented to the President by labour teams occupies a special place.
“I cannot but say and emphasise that it is simply an unprecedented case. The exhibits have left the Independence Palace, and time has shown that this is an excellent practice,” Ms. Eismont noted. She added that the museum of gifts in the Palace of Independence numbers more than 1,000 exhibits, and tens of thousands of people who annually visit the palace on excursions have already got acquainted with them. “Our site is absolutely open. Gifts at the Palace of Independence are always a special and extremely interesting focus for our guests, including those coming from abroad. Many of our Russian friends and colleagues from all over the former Soviet Union visited our exposition and said they have nothing of their kind in their countries. We are very pleased to hear that,” the Press Secretary said.
Ms. Eismont continued that a part of all gifts to the Head of State reflect the Belarusian soul, and they are on show in the National Library these days. “We know perfectly well that the President travels a lot around the country. He visits enterprises, is actively and seriously interested in the life and development of each of them. No doubt, each visit of the Head of State to a particular facility is always a very important event, which is pre-prepared in detail. Naturally, labour teams always want to make him happy, to please him with special souvenirs. In addition, all gifts presented to the President on state and even personal holidays, during his working visits and trips are sent to the Palace of Independence. At the initiative of the Marathon of Unity organisers, the most important and interesting gifs have been taken to a tour around the country. We were very pleased to hear that this exhibition aroused genuine interest, and I have no doubt that it will enjoy the same interest in Minsk as well. We are very pleased that a much wider range of viewers and guests of the National Library will be able to see the gifts to the President and learn even more about their history,” the Press Secretary noted.
The exhibition is located in the National Library atrium, and it features the gifts presented to the President of Belarus by labour teams in 2000-2024. Among them are paintings, souvenirs, samples of equipment, the results of scientific discoveries, and much more.
