Belarus’ GDP grew by 3.7 percent in January 2025, as the country continues to expand business activity, according to the Eurasian Development Bank’s (EDB) weekly macroeconomic review, sb.by reports with reference to the EDB’s Telegram channel

According to the press service, the growth was formed mainly by sectors focused on consumer demand and construction.

“Retail sales grew by 12.2 percent, while the volume of construction work rose by 11.2 percent, according to preliminary data. Fixed capital investment grew by 20.4 percent amid government stimulus measures,” the EDB's macroeconomic review reads.

Output growth in industry, the main driver of the economy last year, was slightly below the GDP growth rate (2.9 percent).

In 2025, the EDB expects GDP growth to reach 2.6 percent.
