Early elections of President of Uzbekistan scheduled for July 9th

Early presidential elections will be held in Uzbekistan on July 9^th – as informed by the Uzbek President’s press secretary, Sherzod Asadov, TASS reports

"By the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, early elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan are scheduled for July 9th, 2023," he said.

The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, earlier announced the need for early presidential elections. Speaking at a meeting with the chairmen of both chambers of Parliament and representatives of the country's public, he said it is due to the constitutional reforms and the urgent nature of political, social and economic tasks assigned to the country’s authorities.
