Each Pole accounts for about $10,000 in public debt

Poland's public debt rose by three percent in March, so every citizen of this country now accounts for about $10,000 in public debt – as stated by Aleksandr Jacek, a political scientist and representative of the Poland-East society, in his talk with Belarus 1 TV channel

“Sanctions are a weapon that always acts in two directions. It only seems that, by imposing restrictions, [the West] is punishing [only Russia and Belarus]. It is punishing itself as well. I should say that Poland’s national debt is already approaching the maximum figures that are determined by our legislation. This means that each Pole, in addition to their personal debts, accounts for about $10,000 in public debt. This all affects the solvency of our citizens,” Mr. Jacek stressed.

The political scientist added that, in March alone, Poland's public debt increased by three percent. “The government planned this figure for the whole of 2022. This affects every Pole, because credit rates have doubled in recent months. This is weakening, among other things, the creditworthiness of our country’s residents,” he stated.
