DPRK said US aggression forced Pyongyang to develop nuclear weapons
The Permanent Representative of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to the United Nations, Kim Song, said that the aggressive policy of the United States towards North Korea forced it to create nuclear weapons, which help deter the armed conflict on the peninsula, TASS reports
According to Kim Song, ‘it is not that the DPRK’s possession of nuclear weapons makes the US hostile towards North Korea’. “The truth is that the US hostility and nuclear threat to the DPRK for over 70 years compelled us to make a historic decision to possess nuclear weapons,” he underlined.
The diplomat said that statements about the nuclear threat from Pyongyang only prove a conceived hostility towards North Korea. Kim Song added that the DPRK continues to increase its war deterrence capabilities not only for the sake of state security, but also for the sake of maintaining peace and security in the region and beyond.
