“It is now already possible to sum up the Olympic results. We understand that we have failed to achieve the set goals, but I am satisfied with the work done,” the famous Belarusian athlete says. “Looking back, we understand that we did our utmost in those conditions, and it was probably difficult to achieve more. We are looking to the future now. Sadly, Chinese biathletes will not be able to compete at the final three stages of the World Cup this season – which would have been important for the Chinese team and its further development. The team leaders have failed to settle some organisational issues. Nevertheless, we are optimistic about the future. We are satisfied with the work done, and would like to wish continuous development to the Chinese and world biathlon.”

The 24th Winter Olympic Games ended on February 20th, with Norway leading the unofficial medal standings (16 gold, 8 silver and 13 bronze awards). The top three teams also included those from Germany (12, 10, 5) and China (9, 4, 2). Belarus captured two silver medals – by biathlete Anton Smolski in the 20km individual race and freestyle skier Hanna Huskova in women’s aerials.
