Director of NAS History Institute: new building of National History Museum designed in the shape of Belarus’ map
The new building of the National History Museum in Minsk will be visually designed in the shape of Belarus’ map – as noted by Director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Belarus Vadim Lakiza at today’s meeting with journalists, sb.by reports
“The new building of the National History Museum, which is expected to be completed in 2027, is designed in the shape of a map of Belarus,” he said. “It will be multi-storey, with large spaces and halls covering about 20 thousand square metres. Visitors to the museum, as the Head of State said, after visiting the exposition reflecting all stages of the history of our country, our statehood, should come out with a sense of pride for Belarus’ rich and unique history.”
According to Mr. Lakiza, the new exposition of the museum will reflect all stages of our country’s history: from the first human settlement on the territory of today’s Belarus to the modern times.
“There is a clear understanding of the concept, what will be inside, what periods will be reflected,” the Director of the NAS History Institute emphasised. “In recent years, thousands of new unique pieces have been obtained, which have already been incorporated into the museum concept and will be shown in future halls, including with the use of the latest technologies of displaying and popularising history.”
He added that history experts from all over the country will be involved in the creation of the museum, including employees of museums with authentic artefacts that could decorate the future exposition.
As previously reported, on February 5th, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No. 50, which envisages the construction of the National History Museum of Belarus and the National Unity Park in the Orlovskaya Street area in Minsk, as well as the creation of a permanent museum exposition in 2025-2027. The museum has been given the status of an all-Belarusian youth construction site, where young people up to 31 years can take part, including as part of student teams. The implementation of the decree will contribute to the formation of Belarusians’ sense of pride in their country and involvement in its history, cultural and spiritual heritage.
