Deputy Head of President Administration: Belarus controls its information field and resists fakes with dignity, but no need to cherish illusions
Belarus controls its information field and adequately resists false stories and fake news, but we shouldn’t cherish illusions – as noted today by Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Vladimir Pertsov before the meeting of the Information Ministry’s board which focused on the results of the media and press industry in 2024
Mr. Pertsov pointed out that the terms ‘fakes’, ‘information warfare’, ‘hybrid warfare’, ‘information confrontation’ are often heard in the media field, and that this terminology is becoming somewhat hackneyed, “We have somewhere calmed down with the successes we have achieved over the past five years. And the past election campaign is partly and largely proof that we control our information field, that we are worthy of resisting false stories and fake news.”
The Deputy Head of the President Administration drew attention to the fact that the citizens of our country have become more mature and wiser, “People have learnt to sort and separate outright false information, aimed at creating a negative background and negative emotions, from the truth: information that deserves attention and is mostly created by the national, state media. We will talk about this within the framework of the Information Ministry’s final board.”
Mr Pertsov warned against complacency and resting on our laurels, “Those who still oppose us on the other side of the barricades are people who are technologically advanced and cunning. They may be limited in terms of resources for a while. But they will still have those resources. And certainly this confrontation will continue, especially the struggle for the minds of the younger people who will go to the polls in 2030.”
